Vintage handwritten recipe for Bread and Butter Pickles


12 medium cucumbers
Small onions
1/4 cup salt
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon mustard seed
1 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
1 cup vinegar
1/2 cup water


Cut {cucumbers} in rings, arrange in layers; sprinkle salt over.  Let stand 2 or 3 hours, drain.  Bring {remaining} ingredients to {a boil} and add cucumbers, boil 10 minutes and seal.
