Mother's Apple Crisp

Mother's Apple Crisp - a vintage typed recipe


3 or 4 apples, peeled, cored and sliced - Jonathan apples if possible
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon lemon juice
6 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup butter or oleo


Peel, core and slice 3 or 4 apples. (Use Jonathan apples if possible.) Grease a baking dish and put the apples in it. Add 1/4 cup water and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. In a bowl, mix 6 tablespoons of flour, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. To the dry ingredients add 1/4 cup butter or oleo. Cut or mash the butter into the flour, sugar, and cinnamon until thoroughly mixed, then sprinkle evenly over the apples. Bake 30 minutes.
