Mother's Fresh Peach Cobbler

Ingredients

1 1/2 cup thinly sliced peaches (more is much better)
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon shortening
1 tablespoon milk
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Method

Set oven at 375-degrees. Grease 10x6x2-inch baking dish. 

In a saucepan combine peaches, water, 1/2 cup sugar; bring to a boil, stirring. Keep hot. 

Meanwhile, with spoon beat egg, 1/2 cup sugar, and shortening until fluffy.  Add milk, stir in flour, baking powder, and salt. 

Spread batter in baking dish. Pour hot peaches over all. 

Serve warm with cream.  Will serve 4-6 people.

  1. How long do you bake this for? States to heat oven to 375 but not time to bake it for once you put peaches in dish
