Vintage recipe card for Batter for Fried Fish - Smelt

Ingredients

3/4 cup sifted flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 beaten egg
2/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon lemon juice

Fat for frying

Method

Sift dry ingredients. Combine egg, milk, and lemon juice. Stir into dry ingredients until flour is moistened, dip smelt in batter and fry in deep hot fat until golden brown.
