Honey Refrigerator Cookies

Honey Refrigerator Cookies

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup honey
1 egg
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Method

Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together.  Work shortening until soft, then work in sugar gradually until mixture is smooth.  Stir in honey, unbeaten egg and nuts thoroughly.  Now stir in the sifted dry ingredients.  Divide dough in half and shape each half into a roll.  Wrap in waxed paper and chill in refrigerator until firm enough to handle.

Start your oven at 400-degrees or moderately hot and grease cookie sheets.  Cut dough into 1/8-inch slices, place slices on cookie sheets and bake 8 to 10 minutes.

Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
