Pecan Cookies

Pecan Cookies


1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups flour, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon water
1 1/2 cups ground or chopped nuts
hand-full of pecan halves


Cream butter and sugar, mix remaining ingredients in the order mentioned...

Chill just slightly to firm butter, then roll in small balls (marble-sized) and arrange on cookie pecan half on top of each....back 10 -- 12 minutes at 325 to 350-degrees...instead of pecans, can roll cookies in granulated sugar after baking and still warm....


I've never substituted margarine for butter here, but I see no reason why it couldn't be done if desired.
