Spiced Chicken

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups orange sections
Orange juice
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons vinegar
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon basil leaves, crushed
1/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 frying chicken, cut-up
Oil

Method

Drain orange sections, reserving juice, and enough more orange juice to make one cup. Mix juice, sugar, vinegar, nutmeg, and basil in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer 10 minutes. Mix flour, salt, and pepper. Wash and dry chicken pieces; coat with the flour mixture and brown on all sides in hot oil. Pour off drippings, but chicken back in the skillet, pour sauce over the chicken.  Cover and simmer for 30 minutes add orange sections and simmer five or ten minutes more.
