Broken Glass Candy

Broken Glass Candy

Broken Glass Candy

3 3/4 cups sugar
1 cup water
1 1/2 cup white Karo syrup

Boil until hard cracked or 300-degrees on a thermometer.

Have ready 1 teaspoon flavoring and 2 drops food coloring. Add and stir as soon as you take it off the fire.

Have ready 2 cookie sheets sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Once the candy mixture has been made, pour liquid mixture onto a cookie sheet lined with foil or wax paper.  After the liquid has cooled and hardened, break the "glass" into small, bite-sized pieces.

Other flavors can be substituted for the cinnamon oil - try lemon, almond, or vanilla extract.  After breaking the "glass candy", you can place the broken candy pieces in a plastic bag with powdered sugar and shake to give the "shinny glass candy" a different look.
