Caramel Layer Chocolate Squares

Caramel Layer Chocolate Squares - a vintage type recipe card.


1 package lite caramels (about 50)
1/3 cup evaporated milk

Combine and stir over low heat until melted. Keep warm.

1 package German Sweet Chocolate Cake mix
1/2 cup margarine, melted
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1 6-ounce bag chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts

Mix together. 


Grease a 9x13 pan. Put in 1/2 above mixture. Bake at 350-degrees for 6 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked crust. Spread caramel mixture, put the balance of dough over top. 

Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 350-degrees. Cool completely and cut into about 3 dozen bars.
