Coconut Drops

A vintage typed recipe for Coconut Drops


4 tablespoons shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice or maple flavoring
2 cups shredded coconut


Cream shortening and slowly add sugar then beat an egg, sift flour with salt and baking powder and add alternately to the mixture with milk, stir in lemon juice, and last coconut. Drop on a greased sheet and bake in a moderate oven [350-degrees] until nicely browned.
