Date Loaf - Verdin
A vintage handwritten recipe for a Date Loaf; make this Old Fashioned Date Loaf with date, candied pineapple, candied cherries, pecans, coconut, Eagle Brand Milk, and salt. Bake in a loaf pan lined with greased brown paper and wax paper; cool in the oven and then place the loaf in the refrigerator. Cut in thin slices and serve.

Ingredients
1 pound dates
4 slices candied pineapple
1/2 pound candied cherries
1 cup nut meats (pecan)
1 can southern style coconut
1 can Eagle Brand Milk
1 pinch salt
Method
Chop fruit coarsely (not too fine), mix well.
Line a 9 4/5 x 5 1/4 x 3 loaf pan with brown paper, well greased. Place wax paper over brown paper, well greased. Bake at 325-degrees for 1 hour (45 minutes). Cool in oven for 15 minutes.
Wrap in oiled paper and place the loaf in the refrigerator. Cut in thin slices and serve.
