Mom's Fudge

Mom's Fudge, a vintage handwritten recipe card.

Ingredients

2 heaping tablespoons cocoa
1/2 cup water

3 cups of sugar
2 tablespoons syrup (Karo)
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon Crisco

Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon butter
Nuts

Method

Boil 2 heaping tablespoons cocoa in 1/2 cup water. Add 3 cups sugar, 2 tablespoons syrup (Karo), 1/2 cup milk, and 1 tablespoon Crisco. Cook to a soft ball - do not stir.  Add a pinch of salt, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 tablespoon butter, and nuts when it has cooled.
