Nut Chocolate Cake

A vintage typed recipe for Nut Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 cups flour
1 level teaspoon soda
1 heaping teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 cup nuts (peanuts or nuts)
1 cup raisins

Method

Cream 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup brown sugar, beat in egg and beat hard, add 1/2 cup milk diluted with 1/2 cup water, 1 1/2 cups flour with 1 level teaspoon soda, 1 heaping teaspoon baking powder, and 2 tablespoons cocoa sifted in. Before stirring in flour, add 1 cup nuts (peanuts or nuts) and raisins. Light oven before adding flour and bake in layers or loaf in a rather hot oven.
