Iced Sesame Cookies

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter or oleo
1/3 cup sesame seeds

1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons water
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons browned sesame seeds
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder

Icing:
3 cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Remainder of toasted sesame seeds

Method

Brown 1/3 cup sesame seeds and 1/2 cup butter or oleo until golden brown on low heat.

Mix thoroughly 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup sugar, and 1 egg; add 2 tablespoons water, 2 tablespoons of the browned sesame seeds, 2 cups flour, and 1 teaspoon baking powder.

Drop dough on an ungreased cookie sheet, press down with the bottom of a greased glass dipped in sugar.

Bake at 375-degrees for 10 minutes until edges brown.

Makes 4 or 5 dozen.

Ice with:

3 cups powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and remaining sesame seeds.
