Sukiyaki

Sukiyaki - a vintage recipe card for the classic Japanese dish

Ingredients

4 teaspoons oil
2 1/2 pounds sirloin
3/4 cup soy sauce (6 ounces)
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 cup thinly sliced onions
1 1/2 cup thinly sliced celery
1 pound can bean sprouts
1 can water chestnuts
1 cup mushrooms
1 cup green onion tops - 1-inch long
1/4 teaspoon Accent

Rice

Method

Brown meat. Add soy sauce and water, cover and simmer 40 minutes or until meat is tender. Add remaining ingredients except for green onions. 

When boiling, cover and cook 5 minutes, add green onions. Cook uncovered 1 minute or so. 

Serve over hot rice. 

Can be frozen.
