1 egg
1 cup shortening
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flaked coconut



Mix well. Let stand for 1/2 hour. Shape in balls. Dip in cold water, then roll in sugar. Press with a fork. Bake at 300 degrees for 10-15 minutes.
