Aunt Cecil's Bran Muffins


2 cups 100% All Bran
2 cups boiling water

2 cups sugar
1 cup melted shortening
4 eggs
1 quart buttermilk

5 cups flour
2 teaspoons salt
5 teaspoons soda
4 cups Raisin Bran Flakes


Mix 2 cups All-Bran and 2 cups boiling water, let stand while mixing other ingredients. 

Mix sugar, shortening, eggs, and buttermilk; then add dry ingredients – flour, salt, soda, Raisin Bran, and the Bran mix. Stir all together till well mixed. Place in a container with a tight cover. This will keep weeks in the refrigerator.

Spoon into muffin pans and bake about 20 minutes at 400-degrees.
