Ingredients

1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
3 1-ounce unsweetened chocolate, melted
2/3 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs or 1 egg and 2 egg yolks
1 3/4 cups cake flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda
2/3 cup milk

Method

Cream shorting and sugar. Mix chocolate and corn syrup, add to creamed mixture, add vanilla and eggs one at a time beating thoroughly; add flour sifted with salt and soda alternately with milk. Pour into greased pans. Bake in a moderate oven (350-degrees) for 30 minutes.
