Gingerbread Cookies

Gingerbread Cookies - a vintage handwritten recipe card


3 cups flour
2 teaspoons ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Mix together flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt. Cream butter and brown sugar. Add molasses, egg, and vanilla, mix well. Add in flour mixture on low speed. 

Press into a disc, wrap in saran wrap and refrigerate four hours or overnight. 

Roll and cut. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet, bat at 350-degrees for 8-10 minutes. Cool completely on racks, decorate. Store in airtight container.
