Plain Refrigerator Cookies

Ingredients

1 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped nut meats

Method

Cream butter, gradually adding sugar; continue creaming until mixture is light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well. Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt; and gradually add to mixture. Beat after each addition, add nuts. Shape into a roll about 1 3/4 inches in diameter. Wrap in waxed paper. Chill in the refrigerator. Slice 1/8-inch thick. Bake on a cookie sheet in a hot oven (400-degrees) for 6 to 8 minutes. 

Makes 5 dozen cookeis.
