Irish Bread


6 cups flour
7 teaspoons baking powder
2 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 cup sugar
1/3 or 1/2 box caraway seeds (to taste) (I use 1/2)
1/2 box raisins
10 tablespoons shortening, melted
2 eggs
2 cups milk


Put through sifter – flour, baking powder, salt, sugar.  Add caraway seeds and raisins. Blend lightly by hand.  Melt shortening.  Beat 2 eggs.  Add shortening to milk and eggs.  Add all this to flour mixture.  Add more milk in necessary – should be biscuit consistency.  

Grease skillet and flour it.  {Place} dough in skillet, bake 325-degrees for 1/2  hour and 300-degrees for 1/2 hour.
