Melting Moments Cookies

Ingredients

1 cup butter
1 cup powdered sugar
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
Pinch of salt
1 egg, beaten
1/2 teaspoon almond flavoring

Method

Mix together the first six ingredients, as for a pie crust. Add beaten egg and flavoring and mix well.

Place in the refrigerator for two hours or more. Then break the dough into balls the size of small walnuts and place on cookie sheets. Flatten with a tumbler bottom, over which as been placed a cloth dipped in ice water. Sugar or cinnamon may be sprinkled on top. Bake 12 minutes at 350-degrees. Remove from pan immediately.
