Ingredients

4 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 clove garlic, minced
3 tablespoons flour
3 pounds beef, chuck or round, cut in 1-inch cubes
1/2 pound mushrooms, sliced
1 cup sliced onions
2 bouillon cubes
2 1/2 cups water
3 tomatoes, peeled and quartered 
1 tablespoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon thyme
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon oregano
1 pound noodles, cooked

Method

Melt butter in large skillet.  Add garlic.  Sprinkle flour over meat cubes.  Add to fat and cook over moderate heat and browned.  Add mushrooms and onion; continue cooking until the onion is soft.  Dissolve bouillon cubes in water, add to the meat with tomatoes and the various seasonings.  Cover and cook over low heat until meat is tender, about 1 hour.  Serve with cooked and well-seasoned noodles.  

Makes 8 servings.
