Mom’s Chicken Casserole

Mom's Chicken Casserole


12 slices bread
2 chickens, (cook meat off)
2 8-ounce cans mushrooms
1/4 cup melted butter
1 can water chestnuts
1/2 cup mayonnaise
12 slices sharp cheddar cheese

Bread crumbs

4 eggs, well beaten
3/4 teaspoon salt
dash pepper

1 can {cream of} mushroom soup
1 can {cream of} chicken soup


Mix and set aside 4 eggs (well beaten), 3/4 teaspoon salt, and a dash of pepper. 

Mix together 1 can of {cream of} mushroom soup and 1 can of {cream of} chicken soup.

Butter 9×13″ pan
1. Put bread on the bottom
2. place chicken on bread
3. Mushrooms
4. pour butter all over
5. water chestnuts
6. pat with mayonnaise
7. cheese slices
8. pour {soup} mix and egg mix overall

Bake 1 1/2 hours at 350-degrees.

The last 15 minutes sprinkle bread crumbs on top and brown.
