1/2 cup butter
1 1/3 cup sugar
3 eggs
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk or sour milk


6 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup light cream
1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup coconut


Cream butter and sugar – add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt; add alternately to the cream mixture with milk.

Place in a 13x9x2 pan. 

Bake 375-degrees for 25 minutes. 


Combine 6 tablespoons butter, 1/4 cup light cream, 1 cup brown sugar. Bring to a boil. Pour over warm cake; top with 1/2 cup coconut. 

Bake 5 minutes more.
