Ingredients
2/3 cup soft shortening
1 2/3 cups sugar
3 unbeaten eggs
2 2/3 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/3 cup walnuts, cut up
Method
Cream together until fluffy 2/3 cup soft shortening and 1 2/3 cups sugar. Beat in thoroughly 3 unbeaten eggs. Sift together 2 2/3 cups sifted flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, and 1 teaspoon salt. Stir in alternately with 1 cup milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Fold in 1 1/3 cups cut-up walnuts.
Bake in a 350-degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes for layer or 35 to 40 minutes in a long pan.
