Shish-Kabobs in Foil

Shish-Kabobs in Foil

Ingredients

1.5 or 2 pounds round steaks, cut in 1.5-inch cubes
1/2 pound cocktail frankfurters
1/2 pound mushrooms (large)
3 firm tomatoes
Salt and Pepper
Barbecue Sauce

Method

The cubed meat, little franks, and vegetables may be placed in a large sheet of aluminum foil, and each person permitted to skewer his or her own solution of food. Place the filled skewers on a large square of foil and brush with barbecue sauce and season with salt and pepper. Wrap the foil around the meat, folding edges together and pinching ends tightly to the skewer. Place on a grate oven or hot fire and cook, turning frequently. It will take 15 to 30 minutes, even longer, depending on the intensity of the heat.

Note – the meat browns right in the foil, while the good barbeque sauce is held in and not allowed to run down in the fire.

Barbecue Sauce – Quick

1/4 teaspoon Tabasco
1/2 cup tomato catsup
1 tablespoon vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1 medium mild Bermuda onion, chopped fine
2 tablespoons butter or oleo

Combine and simmer for 5 minutes.
