1 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Dash of salt
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour


  1. Cream shortening, add in sugar gradually. 
  2. Add egg, unbeaten; beat well.
  3. Add sifted dry ingredients, and extract.
  4. Fill a Mirro cooky press. Form cookies on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 10-12 minutes at 400-degrees. 

Yield – about 5 dozen.
