Heloise's Pralines
A vintage handwritten recipe from Heloise for classic Pralines, a New Orlean favorite. These Pralines are made with white sugar, buttermilk, baking soda, butter, vanilla, and pecans.

Ingredients

  • 1 cups White sugar
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 cups Pecans

Method

  • Mix {white sugar, buttermilk and soda} and cook over medium heat until soft ball stage.
  • Remove from heat and add 1 tablespoon butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 2 cups pecans.
  • {Spoon by tablespoonful on wax paper and let set.}
