Cantonese Dinner
A vintage recipe for a Cantonese Dinner made with pork steak, onion, green pepper, mushrooms, tomato paste, brown sugar, vinegar, salt, and Worchestershire sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds pork steak cut 1/2 inch thick, cut into strips
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 small green pepper, cut into strips
  • 1 can mushrooms, drained
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Method

  • Brown pork in oil to remove excess fat.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Place pork and other ingredients into crock-pot.
  • Cover and cook on low 6 to 8 hours (High for 4 hours).
  • Serve over rice
