Orange Fruit Cake

A vintage typed recipe for an Orange Fruit Cake; make this Orange Fruit Cake with Crisco, sugar, eggs, orange juice, orange rind, ground nuts, buttermilk, soda, salt, raisins, and flour. Make a frosting with sugar, orange rind, and orange juice and pour over the cake while it is still warm.
A vintage typed recipe for an Orange Fruit Cake

Ingredients

3/4 cup Crisco
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 1/2 orange, grated rind only
1 cup ground nuts
1 1/2 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup yellow raisins
3 cups flour

1 cup sugar
Grated Rind of one orange
1 1/2 cup orange juice

Method

Cream 3/4 cup Crisco, 1 1/2 cup sugar, 3 eggs. Add: 2 tablespoons orange juice, 1 1/2 orange (grated rind only), 1 cup ground nuts. Mix:  1 1/2 cup buttermilk, 1 1/2 teaspoon soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 cup yellow raisins mixed into 3 cups flour. Bake in a slow oven (300-degrees) about 45 minutes. 

Frosting: (cook 3 minutes) 1 cup sugar, grated rind of one orange, 1 1/2 cup orange juice. Pour over cake while still warm.
