1/4 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup boiling water
1/2 cup all-purpose sifted flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 eggs, unbeaten


Bring shortening and water to a boiling point in a pan. 

Add flour and salt all at once and beat vigorously until the mixture is thick and smooth and comes easily away from the sides of the pan.  Remove from fire; add eggs one at a time beating each thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and blended. 

Drop mixture in 6 portions about 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. 

Bake in a very hot over 450-degrees for 10 minutes then reduce to 400-degrees for 10 minutes more. Cool and slit and fill with any custard, whipped cream, ice cream, or other fillings of your choice.
