Ingredients
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 cup molasses
4 1/2 cups flour
3 tablespoons ginger
Method
Cream shortening; add sugar, well-beaten eggs, and molasses. Sift flour once before measuring. Sift flour, {soda}, salt, and ginger together. Stir gradually into the mixture. Mold into a loaf; wrap in waxed paper. Place in refrigerator several hours. Slice cookies as thin as desired. Bake 10-12 minutes in a 400-degree oven.
Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
