This recipe for Buttermilk from Pet Instant Dry Milk is a great way to make your own buttermilk at home. It’s easy to make and only requires a few ingredients. Ingredients

  • 3 3/4 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups PET Instant Dry Milk
  • 1/2 cup fresh dairy cultured buttermilk

Method

  • Mix water and PET Instant Dry Milk in a large bow.
  • Stir in buttermilk.
  • Cover with wax paper and clean towel.
  • Let stand in a warm room until clabbered (overnight).
  • Stir until smooth.
  • Store in refrigerator.
  • Makes approximately 1 quart.
  • Use 1/2 cup of this buttermilk to make your next quart.
  • Use to drink or in recipes calling for buttermilk.
