Italian Dressing

Italian Dressing

This homemade Italian dressing is the perfect way to elevate your salads from ordinary to extraordinary. Made with simple ingredients like Crisco oil, vinegar, lemon juice, garlic salt, sugar, dry mustard, oregano, basil, and freshly ground black pepper, it’s bursting with flavor. It couldn’t be easier to whip up.

Crisco oil brings a smooth, neutral base to the dressing, allowing the other flavors to shine. The tangy vinegar and lemon juice duo adds a bright acidity, while the garlic salt infuses a savory punch. A touch of sugar balances the acidity and brings out the depth of the herbs. Dry mustard provides a subtle kick, while the oregano and basil contribute their signature Italian warmth. Finally, a generous grind of freshly ground black pepper adds a finishing touch of spice.

Here’s what makes this dressing unique:

  • Crisco oil: Unlike olive oil, which can sometimes overpower the delicate flavors of the herbs, Crisco oil provides a neutral base that allows them to shine.
  • Balanced acidity: The combination of vinegar and lemon juice creates a perfect tang and brightness balance without overpowering.
  • Layers of flavor: This dressing has something for everyone, from the savory garlic salt to the subtle sweetness of the sugar and the earthy warmth of the herbs.
  • Freshly ground black pepper: A final grind of black pepper adds a touch of heat and complexity that takes this dressing from good to great.

This Crisco oil Italian dressing is:

  • Versatile: Drizzle it over your favorite salad greens, use it to marinate vegetables, or even as a dipping sauce for bread.
  • Customizable: Feel free to adjust the ingredients to your taste. Add more garlic for a more potent punch or a touch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Quick and easy: No need to simmer or stand for hours – this dressing comes together in minutes.

So ditch the store-bought stuff and give this homemade Italian dressing a try. You’ll be amazed at how much flavor it adds to your salads!
