Cornbread - Verdin


1 egg
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon molasses
1 tablespoon melted lard
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup milk
1 cup cornmeal
2 teaspoons baking powder


1 egg, a spoonful sugar and 1 of molasses, 1 large spoonful melted lard and butter, 1 cup milk, 1 cup flour, 1 cup cornmeal, 2 teaspoons baking powder and a little salt. Bake in a pan in a hot oven [400 to 450-degrees].
