Betty Crocker's Swedish Meatballs

A vintage handwritten recipe for Betty Crocker's Swedish Meatballs


1 pound ground beef
1/2 pound ground pork
1/2 cup minced onion
1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
Snipped parsley
2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup salad oil

1/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 cups water
1/4 cup sour cream


Mix thoroughly beef, pork, onion, bread crumbs, parsley, 2 teaspoons salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, 1 teaspoon Worchestershire sauce, egg, and milk. Refrigerate for two hours. Cook teaspoon-sized meatballs in oil for about 20 minutes; keep meatballs warm. 

Blend flour, paprika, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper in oil in a skillet. Cook over low heat then add water and cook to boiling, stirring for one minute. Reduce heat and add sour cream; then meatballs and heat through.
