“A superb bread – makes for delicious toast”

Ingredients

1 package yeast
1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup water, warm

1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon shortening
1 teaspoon salt
2.3 cup whole wheat flour

Method

Mix yeast, 1/2 cup flour, and 1/3 cup warm water and allow to get foamy. Add 1/3 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon shortening, 1 teaspoon salt, 2/3 cup whole wheat flour. Mix and let stand until it doubles in size. Knead and shape into loaves. Put into greased (2) loaf pans. Let stand again until it doubles in size. Bate at 350-degrees for 50-60 minutes. Brush with butter.
