2 tablespoons shortening
3 tablespoons sugar
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
1 cup bran flakes
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt


Cream shortening and sugar; add egg and beat well. Stir in milk, then bran flakes. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir dry ingredients into bran mixture just till moistened. 

Fill greased muffin pans 2/3 full. Bake in a hot oven (425-degrees) about 20 minutes. 

Makes 1 dozen.
